My Secret Santa

Review: And with this, I conclude my trudge with the slop that is Netflix Christmas rom coms. Respectfully. This one stars Alexandra Breckenridge and Ryan Eggold. She plays a down on her luck woman who pulls a Mr. Doubtfire to get a job as a Santa at a local ski resort. He plays the prodigal son of the owner of said resort who falls in love with her while also bonding with her Santa Claus counterpart. Your classic ‘She’s the Man’ style homoerotica, with a weird Freudian twist because it seems like Matthew (Eggold) forms an almost paternal relationship with Santa. No, I’m being really dramatic and the movie really doesn’t make it that deep. I don’t want to spoil the ending, but for some reason the film ends with a little musical number? And there’s also a really good mask reveal that would make Ethan Hunt proud. I’m not even going to do highs and lows because this movie just exists. And Tia Mowry is in it. That’s worth mentioning.
