Jack Frost
Review: Okay wait why did this movie actually kinda hit? I was not expecting it too. It genuinely made me cry. Starring Michael Keaton as a man who dies and comes back as a snowman to have a second chance with his family, the film deals with grief and loss for a majority of the run and handled it pretty solidly. The film also stars Kelly Preston (who I thought was Elisabeth Shue until about halfway through the movie), Joseph Cross, & Mark Addy as Jack’s wife, son, & best friend, respectively. One that is definitely worthy of a watch if you haven’t seen it or a rewatch if you haven’t in a while, you can rent it on digital. It’s not in the upper echelon of all-time Christmas movie, but maybe in the tier right below those. It will likely be one I find myself rewatching down the road.
High: The sentimentality bled through in this movie. I do think it’s a movie that hit me a lot harder now that I’m a dad, but either way it did hit me. Super super heartfelt, which is one of the main things you want from a Christmas movie.
Low: The special effects weren’t great. I tried to give the excuse of the film being released in 1998, but there are so many other films released in the same timeframe that look significantly better.
