Review: A new 2025 film that debuted directly onto Amazon Prime, the film is an action comedy starring Bryce Dallas Howard (‘The Help’ & the ‘Jurassic World’ trilogy), Orlando Bloom (Will Turner in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ & Legolas in ‘Lord of the Rings’), & Nick Mohammed (Nathan Shelley in ‘Ted Lasso’). The three star as improv comedians who are pulled into an undercover operation to help the police take down local criminals. I want to tell you this now. Go watch this film. It may be the funniest film I’ve seen this year. It was unexpectedly really good and also has a shockingly high 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. It had me genuinely cracking up, mostly due to Bloom & Mohammed. I had no idea Bloom could be such a comedic star. The film also features Sean Bean (Boromir in ‘Lord of the Rings’ & Ned Stark in ‘Game of Thrones’), Paddy Considine (King Viserys in ‘House of the Dragon’), Sonoya Mizuno (Mysaria in ‘House of the Dragon’), & Ian McShane (‘Deadwood’ & ‘John Wick’). The film was really well done start to finish, jumping right into the story and wrapping it up nicely with a bow.
High: The comedic timing in this film was ON POINT. There was stellar physical comedy & really good verbal comedy, which is needed in a film about improv comedians. The premise was silly & grew more and more absurd while maintaining it’s core. The scene where the trio confronts the Iceman had me wheezing with laughter.
Low: No lows. This film is obviously not an all-time great film, but it is the best version of what it can be.
Rating: 7.5/10 (again, that’s a modest score but the film is exactly what it should be, so give it a watch)
