Dangerous Animals

Review: A 2025 survival horror and the newest film in the shark sub-genre this film actually does some really interesting things. Instead of the shark being the villains, the villain is a shark obsessed serial killer, Tucker. The film just immediately lets us know who we’re dealing with the story unfolds in a slightly predictable, but still interesting way. This is a film that will likely slip into the ether of movie obscurity, but is a solid horror watch that’s not too eerily scary.

High: Jai Courtney’s performance was intimidating & maniacal in the best way possible. He keeps you both on your toes and on the edge of your seat, truly never knowing his next move. Hassie Harrison also gave a very solid performance as Zephyr and was a nice counter to Courtney’s insane killer.

Low: Okay, so Zephyr had one escape attempt that literally made me gag. It wasn’t a bad narrative choice, but boy was it tough to watch. Ugh.

Rating: 6/10

Rec: I feel like I should recommend a shark movie, but ‘Jaws’ is too obvious, so I’ll say ‘The Meg’ instead. Stream it on VIX, TNT, or TBS.
