Another Simple Favor
Review: Well it’s been a minute since I’ve written a really negative review so here you go. In all honesty this film didn’t need to exist & I think everyone would be better off if it didn’t. This film was an absolute stinker from start to finish. The acting was pretty poor, the premise was laughable, and the writing straight up sucked. I’ll include some spoiler thoughts down below but keep the rest of this top portion spoiler free. Of the heavily featured characters there were only two passable performances. Henry Golding was alright & Anna Kendrick was okay. But Blake Lively was the worst of them all. She’s not the best actress in the world & I think many people have soured on her as of late, but all that aside she was not good in this film. Also all the costumes that her character were so distractingly bad. Finally, if the filmmakers really felt as though Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) needed a sassy sidekick to accompany her on the trip, why did they not just use Andrew Rannells’ pre-existing sassy character that also appeared in this film opposed to introducing a whole new character with Alex Newell’s Vicky, whom we know nothing about.
High: The poster with the giant martini glass is somewhat cool. A little bit. Oh also one random high was the maid that Anna Kendrick’s character interacted with. The exchange between the two of them was funny.
Low: Of all the bad, the dialogue was the worst. It was all cringey, bad, and not well delivered. Also, coarse language doesn’t bother me, but every utterance of a curse word & sexual innuendo felt so incredibly forced & uncomfortable in this film.

SPOILERS:
The whole plot of the last film circled around a twin reveal and the best they could do here was a triplet reveal? That’s just sad to be quite honest. Like they literally could have just not done that and the movie would have been slightly more bearable. And when they did the big reveal of how everything went down (as murder mysteries do) they just didn’t explain enough. Like I was still pretty confused, but didn’t care enough to try and figure it out.
And then they decided to make the twin reveal even worse by introducing a classic case of twin-cest. Nah dude. Don’t do that. ‘Game of Thrones’ & ‘Star Wars’ are the only things allowed to do that.
Finally I wouldn’t typically touch on something this serious, but the movie pretty much said that the secret triplet Charity took advantage of Hope without consent and completely brushes over it before making a couple jokes about it??? Nah, that’s a bad move.
