A Very Jonas Christmas Movie
Review: Sorry JoBros, but this movie just didn’t do it for me. There were some fun moments and some funny moments (though they were funny because they were so hard to watch, not because they were actually funny). There was a ton of cameos and appearances. There were some musical numbers. And then the credits rolled. The movie was not near the worst film I’ve seen this year, but it was pretty rough. If you do decide to watch this movie, I’d say to not do so by yourself because at least you can experience the silliness with someone else. Aside from the Jonas Brothers, the film also features Chloe Bennet, Billie Lourd, Laverne Cox, Andrew Barth Feldman, Randall Park, K.J. Apa, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Danielle Jonas, Andrea Martin, Kenny G, Will Ferrell, and the 4th brother, Frankie Jonas, in a non-speaking role. Poor Franklin. The movie plays out almost like a series of vignettes with different gags featuring a random celebrity before moving to the next one. It is a linear story with some cohesiveness, but definitely feels pretty jumpy. I did like Will Ferrell’s performance, though I think most of my enjoyment came from the shock value of Will Ferrell being in the movie.
High: The chemistry of Kevin, Joe, & Nick was pretty electric, not gonna lie. Almost got me to believe they were brothers in real life.
Low: The Jonas Brothers have acted before. But they’re not like ACTORS. And you can feel that. They do a much better job than the average person could, but not as good as an actor could. Honestly, most of the actual actors were pretty bad too, especially Jesse Tyler Ferguson. His performance was just a swing and a miss.
